FAQ’s

Everybody is bound to have a question, so here are a few that have frequently come up in the past. If you happen to have one that has not been answered here please send inquiries to info@kansascitytriathlon.com

When did online registration open?
Online registration opened Friday, May 23rd, 2014.

When does online registration close?
Online registration closes Thursday, May 14th, 2015. Please register by May 3 to guarantee your shirt size and other race event swag. We cannot guarantee items to participants for registrations received after May 3, 2015.

What is the Refund/Withdrawal policy?
There are NO refunds for the event. Withdrawal requests must be received in writing via e-mail to registration@kansascitytriathlon.com. Transfers or deferrals are NOT permitted.

Is there a waiting list for the event?
No, we do not offer a waiting list.

Are there age requirements?
Yes, all participants must be 15 years of age as of 12/31/2015 per USA Triathlon rules.

What age group will I race in on race day?
All participants will race based on their age as of 12/31/2015

What is the age group breakdown? 
Standard 5 year age groups, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34,….75+

How do I switch out of or into an existing relay? 
Only the team captain (i.e. the person that completed the registration) can request a switch by emailing registration info@kansascitytriathlon.com. All requests much be received no later than 3 weeks prior to race day.

What if my team members can’t compete due to unforeseen circumstances and I am the only one on my team?
If only one athlete remains on the team due to unforeseen circumstances or injury, that athlete can participate as an individual. The individual will not be refunded the difference in entry fee.

Can I mail in my registration?
Unfortunately, we don’t have a mail in registration option, but if you need assistance or don’t have access to the Internet, we highly encourage you to go to UltraMax Sports in Prairie Village. A store associate will help you get registered! Map: goo.gl/g00lHm

Do you offer Athena or Clydesdale divisions?
When you register, there will be a check box you can click. For Athena, you must be a female and weigh 165lb or more. For Clydesdale, you must be a male and weigh 220lb or more.

I can’t make the packet pick-up dates/times. How can I get my packet?
If you are unable to pick up your packet on the dates allotted, we will have an on-site pick-up the day of the race. On-site packet pick-up will open at 5AM.

Are wetsuits required?
No. Wetsuits are not required but we do recommend wearing one. The average water temperature varies based on weather conditions, especially during the spring months.

What is the average water temperature at Longview Lake?
The water temperate can range between 65-85 degrees depending on weather conditions.

Do I have to be a member of USAT in order to participate in the Kansas City Triathlon?
Yes, event requires a USAT membership. USAT offers annual and 1-day memberships for both adult and youth. You can purchase this on your registration form. If you are already a member, please have your membership number available.

Do you offer women’s t-shirt sizes?
Yes, this year we now have women’s fit t-shirts. If you’ve already registered, please contact info@kansascitytriathlon.com to change your requested t-shirt size.

Are dogs allowed?
No, this year dogs will not be allowed in the beach area for safety reasons.
